"Forget-me-not" -Too

"Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by Thy power; and bring them down, O LORD our shield." (Psalms 59:11) Because of what today represents, I thought I needed to complete what I started; or more importantly, let God complete the message He wants to speak into my heart. The New Living Translation has this verse written as such: "Don't kill them, for my people soon forget such lessons; stagger them with Your power, and bring them to their knees, O Lord our shield." It is very similar, yet it adds a certain thing about "lessons" and "knees", both of which are important things to what is required for true deliverance to take place in our lives. I was reminded of something very important this morning; two things, actually: the first of which, is that of Jesus the night before, and how He battled the temptation to not go through with what He was sent to do; the second, is that Saul represented something metaphorically in comparison to David, whereas Saul represented the worldly king, and David represented God's anointed king. Both of these thoughts are very closely related, because they both are based upon two very different arenas, if you will; in other words, they both consider God's Kingdom over the kingdom of this world, God's will verses our will, God's power verses man's power, God's strength verses what man can do; I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. Whether you can accept it or not, we are able to keep His commands, because God will never ask us to do something that is impossible to do; but we can never do it without His help! That is where "lessons" come into play, because we know by experience what our weakness and strengths are; and we know by experience the power of God's Spirit in our lives; which is where "knees" come into play, because that is where we need to be when we are tempted. If you doubt that for even a moment, then you need to think where Jesus was in the hour of His temptation, and then consider the difference between His strength and yours: you need knee pads! The finial point that needs to be made, is very similar to those other two, which is the word "shield"; because it speaks of a smaller shield, as in the one in our hands, which God holds, and is powered by Him. I mean, think about this for a moment, because the power of God to defeat sin and death was displayed in God's weakness; as Jesus became flesh and blood to be able to die, that we might all live! Man, my little temptations are so weak and pitiful...
"We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; He came to help the descendants of Abraham. Therefore, it was necessary for Him to be made in every respect like us, His brothers and sisters, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then He could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Since He Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested." (Hebrews 2:16-18)
