"Never Give Up!"

"Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man." (Psalms 60:11) Will not God, who freely gave us His all to save us, gladly give us the help that we need? The problem with us, is that the help we need and the help that we want are most times entirely different! There are two ways that we can look upon the second part of this verse, "for vain is the help of man"; we could take it to mean that getting help from man or seeking to be helped by man is vain, because we are looking for solutions from the world, which is the way most will read this Scripture; or we could read this another way, which is that anything that man can do for me stops at the grave, and does nothing to provide for my eternity. The word "vain" is shav', a word that basically means emptiness or worthlessness; in other words, it's not seeking man's help that is vain, it's the fact that any help we receive from man in the grand scheme of things is ultimately worthless. Here is the thing that we have need to understand, that what God can give us is free! It's yours, absolutely free!!! We are not just talking about your eternal salvation, we are talking about what you really need here and now! You might want physical healing, but what you really need is to experience God's peace and His joy; peace that takes away all of your worries, and joy that gives you strength in times of suffering. Nothing that man can do for you can even come close to doing that; unless it's is temporary help in the form of a pill, which I am sure they will more than gladly try and give you. It seems that has become the solution for everything, take a pill and make it seem to go away; which is really not actually giving up, it's not even attempting to try; try God, that is. Yea, but I already tried God, and it didn't work; is that what you say? Because if it is, then you obviously are looking for the wrong work, because God wants to do far more in your life than save your wretched body; God wants to make you a Star, because that's what you are...
"What sorrows awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the LORD, the Holy One of Israel. In His wisdom, the LORD will send great disaster; He will not change His mind. He will rise against the wicked and against their helpers. For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits! When the LORD raises His fist against them, those who help will stumble, and those being helped will fall. They will all fall down and die together." (Isaiah 31:1-3)
