"No Matter What!"

"Will Not Thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and Thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?" (Psalms 60:10) Here is something to ponder, if you are into numbers: 3,000 men died when the law was first given to Moses (Exodus 32:28), and on the day of Pentecost when Peter first preached, 3,000 souls were added to the kingdom of heaven (Acts 2:41). Not that God was not making a point, as I believe that He was; but can't you see sharp contrast in the difference between the Law and grace? Paul uses a question in Romans 7:7, saying, "What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet." God's law reveals our sin, our sinful nature, and our desperate need for God's redemption! If God has "cast us off", or has refused to "go out with" us, He has done so because of sin; and the same God that has given us the law in order that we might see our sin, has given us the redemption from our sin, for all that will ask. God does not change: God did not change His way of dealing with sin, because the penalty for sin is death; and every since God told Adam, "In the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" (Genesis 2:17), He pronounced death to be the result of sin; but Jesus paid the price for our sin with His death on the cross; Jesus paid the price for all sin, including the sin of Adam. So, what that actually means, in case you were not listening, is that death which came with the sin of Adam was made null and void, thereby giving the gift of life to all that believe in Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17). Are you still pondering? Maybe you might be wondering what the point is, and how this relates to anything to do with Psalms 60:10? Although God does not change, He does change His how we stand with Him, which is based upon where we stand in receiving His free gift...
"Yes, Adam's one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous. God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 5:18-21) NLT
