"No Confidence in the Flesh"

"When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, the stumbled and fell." (Psalms 27:2) I hope your getting this, because there is nothing that can destroy us outside of our own flesh! And even then, it takes an act of flat out rebellion to be ripped from the hand of the Father!!! I once had a shirt that I kind of wore out, and it said in big bold letters, "PROPERTY OF JESUS". That is what we are when we give our hearts to the Lord; no more are we our own, nor do we belong any longer to this world; but we are the property of Jesus Christ, and what He is given by His Father, He does not let go of without a fight; and just in case there might be some problem with the grip of Jesus (that's not likely to happen), the Father's grip is right there also to reinforce the grip of the Son!!! (John 10:28-30) We really do not understand or know all that is going on around us; we might think that we do, but there are forces at work that we do not have the capacity to see, let alone understand what is going on. As with Paul's exhortation in 2 Corinthians 10, we do not war against flesh and blood, and because we do not, we must take our battles into the spiritual realm; that's where our battles are won, not by the way things appear to be happening, neither by the these resources that we have all around us; but by God doing a work to cause that which has come against us to fall away. Meanwhile, we are being brought to a greater elevation of trusting Him, as we marvel at how He continues to protect us and grow us up big and strong, spiritually; while the flesh becomes weaker and weaker as the days roll on. Obviously we are not indestructible; having been in church leadership for over the last fifteen years, in can attest to that fact; but if we remain seated in Christ, then there is nothing that can make us stumble or fall away from the grace of God; and even if we happen to leap out of His hand, if we were indeed His property, the Father will catch us... "I pray for them. I pray not for the world, but for them which Thou hast given Me; for they are Thine. And all Mine are Thine, and Thine are Mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to Thee, Holy Father, keep through Thine Own Name those whom Thou hast given me, that they may be one, as We are." (John 17:9-11)
