"Voyage Maker"

"Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty." (Psalms 27:12) Since we are on the subject of learning, one of the most important things that we need to learn, is that Jesus will get us through to the other side! It might get a little ruff, and there my be waves that appear as though they are going to destroy us; but if He has promised to get us through, then just hold on and enjoy the ride! I am thinking of the illustration given in Matthew, Mark and Luke, regarding Jesus calming the storm; however, it's not really about the fact that Jesus calmed the storm, even though that is spectacular in and of it's self; but rather, it's about having faith in Jesus, and when Jesus says, "Get in, we are going to the other side of the lake", we need to trust Him that we are going to get there safely. I truly do believe that God has a sense of humor, and He does have that ability to be amused, and even to amuse us in many of the things He does; but you have to wonder what was going through the mind of the disciples as they saw their fate, or at least thought that they saw it. Mark 4:37 says, "And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full." In other words, the ship was full of water from the crashing waves, and it really looked like they were going to sink! Now I don't know about you, but I have had some voyages that had some pretty close calls; times when I really thought, This is over! But God!!! You know I like that phrase! God is more than able to get us through to the other side, He just wants us to put our trust in Him to do it, and sometimes He will allow the storm to get really really crazy, just so He can show us what He can do! Think about this for a moment; because if it was Jesus who decided to get in the boat and to travel to the other side, don't you think He knew what He was doing? He had just finished off speaking about "The Parable of the Mustard Seed", and now it was time to demonstrate how that works. Men are seriously bad at asking for directions, we think that we have a gift when it comes to navigating, whether that's concerning travel or putting something together, it's all about, Stand back and watch me work my magic. Maybe it's because we get that from our Heavenly Father, who, by the way, does not always stick to the road map or the instruction manual; He can do it His way, or He can turn our way into His way; either way, God gets His way; so sit back and enjoy the ride... "And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest Thou not that we perish? And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?" (Mark 4:38-41)
