"Hold Fast"

"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." (Psalms 27:14) There is so much that "Wait" and "Courage" have in common, and as you examine the meaning of these two different words, you will discover that their common cords are instruments of binding together, such as a rope the binds strongly. Seeings how that this is a day which we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I thought it should be fitting to examine His ability to hold fast to the Father; which means that He and the Father were one, in almost every way: one in Spirit, one in objective, one in the way they viewed the world; the list could go on and on. If you can imagine how a strong rope is constructed, there are cords which wrap around each other, and within each of those cords are many threads of fiber that give each cord their strength; in other words, there is strength within each of the cords, and there is multiplied strength in the cords that wrap around each other. Another way we can look at this, is by saying, Jesus was holding onto the One who held Him, so much so, that there was no possible way that they could be separated or torn apart. It might be hard to imagine what that might be like; especially since Jesus and the Father shared a common view of the future also; but that is why we have been given God's word, so we too can also have that same shared view of what is to come, and we can take courage in knowing that it's all going to end more glorious than we could ever imagine. If you really think about it, Jesus looked beyond the cross; and as I said before, although the cross was essential to the redemption of the world, it was His Resurrection that brought new life into the world; and as such, it was the Resurrection that He looked forward to, knowing that He was going to be victorious over death and the grave, and that it would only be a matter of a few days, and He would rise again to strengthen His disciples. That's the kind of waiting that we are to have; knowing and believing with all of our hearts that His word is true, we hold fast to His word, and we bind it upon our hearts and into our minds; making each and every verse, each and every promise, another fiber of our cord; and then we hold fast to the One who is holding onto us..."If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set you affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory." (Colossians 3:1-4)
