"The True Light"

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believed on His name." (John 1:9-12) Just in case you were feeling as though you might have been left in the dark, you must consider what it is that brings you into the Light. It is not your righteousness, nor even your desire to become righteous: "For all we like sheep, have gone astray". It is not that we have a desire to be holy, so we come to Jesus; it is that we come to Jesus, and then we will desire to be holy. Why? Because when we come to Jesus, we are made holy!!! "Power to become sons of God" is a term that represents immortality; which for those that do not know what that means, it means Eternal Life! Power to save; despite of the darkness; despite of ourselves! He is more than able to deliver us, if we will just believe in Him. Throughout the first opening verses of John's Gospel, he uses two main verbs to push home a point about this transformation of 'becoming something that one was not before'. This is the Gospel Message; the message proclaimed by the angel Gabriel to Mary, in that he said, "that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God". Prior to that birth, all born of the women were considered sinners; conceived in sin, and born in sin. Even Mary herself was blessed to become 'something that she was not before', for as Gabriel put it, "Blessed art thou among women". Some religions take this saying a little too far, and some do not give Mary any glory at all; but the truth of the matter is, that even though the woman had brought sin into the world, it was now a woman that was bringing God into the world; so the point that Gabriel was making to Mary, was not that of being blessed above women, but that of saving face of the woman. Even according to Leviticus, the woman was considered to be unclean during and after pregnancy, because that which was within her was defiled and to be born a sinner; yet that which was in Mary was holy, and would be born without sin! This is also the Gospel Message that was proclaimed to the shepherds by the angels and a multitude of heavenly host, praising God, and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men". It's all about Jesus; not about us or what we have done, nor what we shall do; but about what He has done for us; we are the benefactors of His miraculous transformation, that we too can be miraculously transformed, in spite of ourselves!!! Even the darkest heart can be delivered into the Light, if they will just believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour!!! When the writer, John, proclaimed, "which lighteth every man that cometh into the world", he did so to include every sort of man and woman; be it they Jew or Gentile, rich or poor, strong or weak; some of all sorts, including those that do not think that they are worthy! So; as to the heart that might be trapped in even the darkest darkness, if they will just believe in Him, then they too will be saved!!! Not because of anything that they shall have done to make themselves righteous; that includes turning from their evil ways!!! They must come as they are and be transformed into a child of God! Then, and only then, will they have power to be sons of God. At which time, they will no longer desire those things which are evil, because they are transformed into the True Light; of which that darkness must flee!!! "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:13) MERRY CHRISTMAS, ONE AND ALL...
