"Duly Noted"

"Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?" (John 7:35 KJV)

"What sorrow for those who drag their sins behind them with ropes made of lies, who drag wickedness behind them like a cart! They even mock God and say, "Hurry up and do something! We want to see what you can do. Let the Holy One of Israel carry out his plan, for we want to know what it is."" (Isaiah 5:18-19 NLT)

Just so we can be on the same page, duly noted, and dually noted, are two totally opposite responses to any statement or idea. In this case, duly noted is the same as mocking someone, as to say, 'I will make a note of that, but I am pretty sure it won't be happening!'

Jesus clearing said where He was going, yet they chose not to accept it! We choose to ignore or accept things all of the time, depending upon on our own desires and passions; this is pretty much the pattern for falling into sin, as we question whether or not this is right or wrong, based upon the desires of our heart, not based upon what God says is right, and good, and holy.

Matthew Henry calls this response, "Willful ignorance and blindness." Which is much like what happened in Cain's heart, as God instructed him in as to what he should do, yet he duly noted it, and then did the total opposite of what God told him he should do.

Something to think about, as we receive any instruction, whether it be from a message we have heard, or from God's word being highlighted with our hearts. We He speaks, we need to listen carefully to what He says; knowing full well that it is meant for us, and not think it was meant for someone else!

Don't think what is being said does not include you, because this is something every one of us will do, from time to time. We are all sinners that have been saved by grace, grace being given something that we do not deserve...

"Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters; You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it." (James 1:19-25 NLT)
