"Cloak-and-Dagger"

"[The most ancient Greek manuscripts do not include John 7:53 - 8:11.] Then the meeting broke up, and everyone went home." (John 7:53 NLT)

"He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the forward is carried headlong." (Job 5:12-13 KJV)

Not that it much matters, but I have my own opinion about this mystery that there is no record of the portion of Scripture mentioned above. Who was the man the woman was caught with, and why was he not mentioned? That is pretty much the question everyone has, as they read this portion of Scripture; just about every teaching that I have heard on this text, the teacher will always point that out, "Where is the man?"

Basically, I guess what I am saying, is that, not everyone went home to their own house! I really don't want to say anymore, but it is rather intriguing that the King James Version of this Scripture says: "And every man went unto his own house." Just a little observation, that's all.

Okay, if you really want to know, I think that the woman was caught with one of there own, a Pharisee. Any one that might wish to debate that accusation, bring it on; besides, this break up was most likely due to the last statement made: "For out of Galilee ariseth no prophet."

Obviously, this was not accurate, and the statement was incorrect. There were several significant prophets which were known to be associated with Galilee: According to Matthew Henry, there was Jonah, whom Jesus referred to as being in the belly of a fish for three day; there was Nahum an Elkoshite, and then, there was Elijah!

Anywho, this will still remain a mystery. But Jesus knew who is was, I will bet that He wrote that man's name on the ground...

"Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon." (Psalms 76:10 NLT)
