"Marked for Eternity"

"Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation to follow." (Psalms 48:13) Once upon a time is something out of Fairy Tale stories, this is real and it must be lived that way! This is something that the Lord needs us to get right, because it is totally up to us to pass this torch to the next generation; that is why we are here and have not gone home. The best thing for us would have been to be taken home the moment we were saved, or at least those first few months; but that's not how this works, because we are not just saved for us, we are saved to be salt and light in this world, that others also may come to know their need for a Saviour. The word used for "bulwarks" only appears one time, right here in this verse and it is closely related to that which speaks of power and might, as in to be able, as in able to withstand, as in a fortress. The main meaning that I am getting from this verse has much to do with our testimonies, such as would be the case of established "marks" upon our lives, which are not just stories that are handed down, but a life. How do I get this across without appearing mystical? Imagine this body is a suit of armor, and upon the breastplate of this armor are tales of our victories won in battles; in other words, if you were a archer, then the tale would involve arrows; if you were a blacksmith, the tale would involve a hammer; whatever your tale displays, it involves victory that God has established in your life. "Palaces" are those that were looked at in verse three, "God is known in her palaces for a refuge", which speaks more about the corporate gathering into fortresses, whereas "bulwarks" and more individual. Basically, I guess what I am trying to say (obviously with little success), is that our lives are what make this real: our lives are what people look at for the proof that there is hope, and that there is a God, and that God loves us...
"We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:" (Colossians 1:3-6)
