"Passion and Purpose"

"Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word:" (Psalms 148:8)

Getting back to this thing; as much as I hate to see all that is going on, it still does not discourage me about how things are going; nor is it really something I am worried about. We must not loose sight of the fact that God still is on the throne! Each of these things we witness above are things that come upon the earth and cannot be stopped; they can be cleaned up after, but you cannot stop fire from happening; a lightning storm can cause a fire in an instant. After theses last several fire seasons, I have become a little more aware of how dangerous and unpredictable a ragging wildfire can actually be; you really do not want to be in the path of it, and the path goes in all sorts of different directions. If you think about it, if God can use our mistakes for His opportunities, what might He do with the things that are His? This might be something to meditate on and pray about, because the elements, even the stormy wind, obey Him! Don't get discouraged about what you see happening all around you, because this should be a reminder about just how vulnerable we actually are. I can recall one point in my childhood, when we thought the sun was moving towards us. It was actually something else going on, like flareups or something to do with the sunspots or something like that; but for several months, I remember feeling very discouraged about the fact that there was nothing we could do; that there was absolutely no where on the earth we could hide, because the earth was going to be consumed by the sun. Anywho; even that would not worry me now! That might be my biggest fear of how I might die, to die by fire; but if it were to happen that way, I am pretty sure that it would be instantaneous and painless. Besides, it will only be this body that gets destroyed; which is only just a borrowed tent to dwell in. Above all else, we must remember that God will fulfill His word; no matter what it might look like or how little it all might make sense; God will keep His promises...

"God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven; to make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure. When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder: then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out. And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding." (Job 28:23-28)
