"Oh, Happy Day!"

"O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!" (Psalms 119:5)

Yes, that's right, today I choose to be happy! No matter what, this is  glorious day, because I have peace in my heart and trust God is doing something amazing in me and everyone that I know. Looking at this verse, I must tell you how I came upon the title; because it was not based upon this verse, but based upon God's love and grace in my life. I know full well how miserable I fail at being all that God has made me to be; but God, He is still there, arms wide open, to express His love and to pour out His grace in my life. And yes, it is a little about today being election day here in the United States, because I know that God is still on the Throne and that He is ultimately in control. Sure the devil gets to create all kinds of mischief and plays a very big role in all that is wrong, not only here in this country, but everywhere around this world; but ultimately, God has the last word on all that goes on here, whether it seems right or wrong, nothing happens without His knowledge and mighty will to complete His work in His church. Isn't that really the bottom line in all of this, that His church be complete? That's all that we are waiting for; at least that is the way I have come to understand it. Jesus is the Bridegroom, who is waiting for that glorious day when the Father has prepared His glorious Bride, which is we the church; and on that day, however soon that might come, the door will close and the heavens will open! This is what we must be focused upon in our daily lives, to be ready! It is more than a way of living, it is a direction! It is having a focus in the direction of Heaven, knowing how important it is to keep His statutes, because that is where you are headed. If I were that rock, then this rock defies the laws of gravity, because there is nowhere else that I am going than up...

"I have discovered this principle of life -that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God's law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God's law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death." (Romans 7:21-8:2) NLT
