"Quicken Us!"

"So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name." (Psalms 80:18) That is powerful stuff, yet so easily overlooked. Imagine for just a moment that you could not breath. When you got a chance to take in some air, would it be a shallow breath, or would it be more like a gasp? It would be a gasp! We really need to understand how much we depend upon the Lord; not just for the salvation that we have been given, it's really so much more than that. We must depend upon Him for every single part of our lives; right down to the time we go to sleep at night, to the time when we rise up each morning. Do I continue this daily blog naturally? There are some mornings I would like to just stay in bed, but I dare not. There are some mornings when I don't feel like posting anything, but I cannot refuse to try; not because I don't feel like it, but I need to hear something from God. It's really quite simple, when you get right down to it: understand who you are, and know who God is! That's really what restoration is all about; now breath it in, in big huge breaths. Less of me, and more of Jesus, that is what I need all day long! And yet, it's not just about that, it's about having more life within us, the kind of life that causes us to rejoice in every situation, and in every circumstance. We can do so because the life we have within us is eternal, and it is not moved by anything here on this earth. Does that mean we never have trials that move us? No, we would be silly to think anything of the sort. Jesus was moved by the trial before Him, so why would we think ourselves any better? But Jesus was strengthened and moved forward; which is exactly what we need to do also, seek to be strengthened. That is pretty much what the word "quicken" means; besides just breathing in, the breath is to strengthen us, to revive us, and to fill us with life, His life...
"When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all the glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:14-21) NLT
