"Set Out To Seek Jesus"

"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." (Romans 13:11 & 12) First off, let me say that the only way we can truly set out to seek Jesus, is to set our minds on Him. Do you know what your mind is? Thoughts are things which represent our minds activity, or what our mind is drawn to; but really, if our heart is where love resides, and our soul is our will, then what's up with our mind? How about our plans? What are you planning to do today? This is where the blueprints of our days are set into motion; where we gather our thoughts together, and then set out to make the things which our heart desires to be done, come to life. How about planning our day for seeking Jesus? I know, you might not get what I am getting at; but, let's say that you are planning your day, something we all do, whether we realize it or not; and as you are setting out to plan your day, you have placed within this plan something that is not actually worthy of you even thinking about, but it has been placed there anyways; does that plan, even if it may not get played out, come between you and your ability to seek Jesus? Yes, it most surely will! It will because we have set out to something which actually draws us away from Jesus; or, better put, makes us avoid seeking Jesus, to better complete our plan. As we look at what Paul is saying in the text above, there is this concept of waking up out of a sleep; which actually means to become attentive to one's dangerous position and to the salvation of God delivering therefrom. Adding to this, the point about "casting off the works of darkness", and we have the counter to the workings of what takes place in our minds. Okay, so maybe this is something that you don't think is that big of a deal; mostly because you are not actually going to perform these acts that you have set into your daily plan; it might just be some kind of a fairytale, or a what if kind of a thing. However, do not discount the power of the mind; and what we place in the mind, or let into our minds, can really become a hindrance to our will, let alone our heart... "Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:10-16)
