"Reaching Out For Jesus"

"Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as He is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17) What are we in this world? To fully understand what John is speaking about, we must first understand who Jesus is, primarily because it is the knowledge of who He is that holds the keys to who we are in Him; and if we are going to stand any chance against this world, then we must know Who's we are. As I was saying yesterday (things that might be hard for some to comprehend, but nonetheless, things that must be accepted), Jesus Christ is God, which therefore means that He is not of this world; this, the same writer of the passage above made perfectly clear in the first 18 verses of his Gospel. The word 'herein' that begins the passage above, is not necessarily for the 'because' in the same verse, although, the 'because' does complete the 'herein'; but the 'herein' is the product of the two verses before, which say: "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him". I wish not to get in a battle over words, or the meaning of 'Son of God' verses God, but know this: Jesus is referred to as the Son of God because He came forth from God; the same meaning which Peter declared of Him in Matthew 16:16, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God". Back to Colossians 3:2, as Paul says to "set your affections on things above, not on this earth", primarily it is due to the fact that we are no longer of this earth; here, but no longer attached to this world in our spirit, we have been raised up in Jesus Christ, who being seated at the right hand of the Father, is given all the authority of the Father. However, there is only one temporary obstacle in our way of being as He is, and it is called this mortal body; which, as both Paul and John explain, that this shall change either - Here, There or In The Air; but in the mean time, we are to be perfected in Christ by the love that we have been made aware of. It is the knowledge of this love that manifests itself in us; something that is not foreseen or explainable prior to the conception of that knowledge, but is only obtainable upon the acceptance of who Jesus is and what He has done for us...
