"Everlasting Gobstopper"

"Then they said unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread." (John 6:34 KJV)

"Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the LORD. Many people say, "Who will show us better times?" Let your face smile on us, LORD. You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe." (Psalm 4:5-8 NLT)

Looking at the request, on the surface it might appear to be sincere and the best response to all that Jesus has been saying; practical response for people that are looking for something to make life a little easier and less complicated or demanding. Guess what? That's not how this gig works! The same issues that fall upon the unjust will fall upon the just; the difference is how we handle everything better, because we have optional things to look forward to, besides the things that the world might hand out!

By the way, talking about the world, have you seen the latest thing that Bozo is talking about? Really, it is beyond the realms of reality; but then again, what is real now in this world? Because the fact that someone can say, 'We can spend a couple trillion dollars and it will not cost anything,' they must have figured out how to defy the laws of gravity. Which is exactly what I think Bozo did, at least for a moment while he was outside of the earth's atmosphere!

Anywho; I am pretty sure that the request was legit, at least for the current life and the way of life we would all love to live in. Unfortunately, life is not always about having fun! Sometimes, life gets right-down ugly and painfully unbearable. But, no matter what this life might take us through or how hard the wringer might crush us, we will be just fine in the end!

Was that what you had in mind? I am pretty sure that is not something we get out of bed to take on, as if it were just another holiday adventure; but, it is not going to change my decision to follow Jesus! Did you happen to see what Jesus went through? "Lord, evermore give us this bread," really? Sometimes we just don't really know what we are asking for...

"Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory." (Colossians 3:1-4 NLT)
