"Thus and Thus"

"Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD." (Psalms 128:4)

I know that I can get a little weird, but you have to admit, there is something to be said for being creative and having a little imagination. You can call it making lemonade from lemons, if you want; but this is what it is, till the Lord takes us home or until He returns; which, by the way, should be very very close! If you want to be totally accurate about what this verse is trying to say, it is what it is, a fact! We look at other people, admiring their lives and success, thinking that what they have is some kind of blessing; but are they truly happy? There are only a very few people that I know that are very well off and happy; most are married to a life of constant consumption. It is a little like the Rivers of Living Water that flow through us, the believers, but theirs are rivers of constant give and take, with no guarantee that it is going to last. The whole point about storing up treasures in heaven, is that it is totally and completely safe and secure. Save a life, cover a multitude of sin! (James 5:20) If you think about what is being said, it is not based upon our forgiven sins, it is for our confidence and sincerity. Say what you will, but there is something powerful that takes place when a sinner turns from death to life; just to be a part of that is enough to make anyone feel blessed. What could even compare? Talk about peace; there is nothing better than the peace felt doing something that is going to last for all eternity. What could give Paul the confidence to say, "For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh." (Romans 9:3) Would you call that fearing God? I guess it depends on how you look at God's judgment and fairness; because in the end, God is all about reconciliation, I reckon...

"Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he used our foolish preaching to save those who believe." (1 Corinthians 1:21) NLT
