"Adhesion To The Word"

"I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame." (Psalms 119:31)

After today, is really not the right answer God wants to hear; we should never put off for tomorrow what God wants to do today in our hearts. Don't ask me what that has to do with anything about this verse, because as of this moment, I am really not sure. The word "Stuck" means exactly what it says, to adhere or cleave to the Word of God; or in the case of His "Testimonies," they are His witness and His precepts, or laws! I truly don't know why there are some people who just love to jaywalk; apparently, they simply just want to break the law, any law will do, just as long as it gives them some kind of satisfaction of 'sticking it to the man'. I have literally watched people stand there and stare at the green light, and as soon as it turns yellow, or even red, they start walking, just so they can apparently break the law. These have mostly been homeless people, so I guess it really does not count, because they will most likely not be cited or arrested, unless they actually walk in front of the wrong police officer. As to the opening statement, if there is one thing we should learn about God's "testimonies," it is that they are spoken first and acted upon second. That should not come to a great surprise to anyone, especially anyone that has knowledge in the relationship between the Old and New Testaments. There are some people who actually think that you can throw out the Old Testament, because we are only concerned with the New Testament, as if the Old is just that, old and gone. Nothing could be further from the truth! If it is truth that we actually want, then we have got to adhere to the Old and the New, because they are all the same Word of God, and both are giving the same instruction. 'But wait,' you might be saying, 'I thought we were no longer under the law?' The Law has never changed, not one little bit! It still counts as the Word of God, and God never changes! What must change is you and me; and in the way that God has shown how He works, He speaks first and then there needs to be action. I guess the real question we must consider, is based upon His "testimonies," do you want Him to move or will it be you? He's not going anywhere, so I guess we know where this is going...

"I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true -it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame. Since we know that Christ is righteous, we also know that all who do what is right are God's children." (1 John 2:26-29) NLT
