"Holy Fermentation"

"For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring out, and drink them." (Psalms 75:8) We are starting the Book of Luke at church, which is one of my favorite New Testament Books to study. Luke packs a whole lot of stuff in his version of what took place; and like the physician that he was, he paid so much attention to details. Luke was referred to as, "The Great Physician," because of his ability to pick up on the stuff going on behind the story, which is what good doctors do; you explain your symptoms, and they figure out what is really going on inside of you. Of the 23 parables that Jesus gave, 18 of them are recorded in Luke's Gospel. Luke records 20 miracles that Jesus performed, 6 of which are only listed in his Gospel. Luke shows 24 things that angels do; and he focuses, with great detail, on the prayers of Jesus. Luke is the only writer of the New Testament who was not a Jew, and his account was written to have universal appeal, to both the Jews and the Gentiles, and especially the Greeks. The Gospel of Luke has been called, "the most beautiful book ever written." He is thought of by some, to have been the author of the Book of Hebrews; although I tend to speculate that the Book of Hebrews was a joint effort of three men, Paul, Mark and Luke; mostly because there are examples of each of their writings given: the passion, the awe, and the logical explanations. Regardless of what any of us might speculate, God's word is alive, timeless, and is packed full of inspiration and lovingkindness. The verse we have before us today, is a verse that can be taken to mean several different things to many different people; but, much like the Book of Revelation, it can be one of the easiest to be taken literally, and as the plain description of God's truth. It always comes up, "Why does God allow all of this bad stuff to happen?" But without the bad, how would we learn to appreciate the good? It was really never meant to be this way! God created almost everything He created to be good, with the exception of one thing; one slight detail of His creation did not seem very good to Him! Please forgive me, but my heart is breaking right now... "Then God said, "Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth." And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. God called this space "Sky." And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day." (Genesis 1:6-8) NLT
