"Touched in the Head"

"They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily." (Psalms 73:8) I hope to make this a little better than yesterday, as I was not quite feeling my best, and my head was a little clouded by the day ahead. Do you ever have those days? Days when the cares of this world just seem to take over, and your really not quite sure why you even keep trying to make it work? Well guess what, it's not right and we should not be worried about stuff that really is out of our control. You would think by now it would be almost automatic, to just give it all to God and go with the flow; but it is hard to not have everything under control; it is hard to not know what to do next. If you are wondering where this is going, it is already there! This is the general idea that God is speaking into my heart about this verse; because if we are His children, then we should not be concerned about such matters. If it's made of matter, then it does not matter! A real problem for the wicked is their ideas of having control over their lives, as if nothing is too difficult for them to accomplish, or that no problem is too difficult for them to figure out. But their problem concerning that problem is too difficult for them to understand, because they think that they are in control of their lives. It could all end in an instant; we are all just one breath away from leaving this earth, and nothing that we have accomplished or created will matter; you take nothing with you when you go! Other than trying to be our own captain, it is more about surrendering to God's will; which last time I checked, His will is not based upon our plans and desires, it is based upon His purposes for our lives. Any time we start thinking that our plans are going to be God's plans, we are going to get unpleasantly surprised. I find it works best to follow God's plans and to seek His will, and maybe, just maybe, we find ourselves getting pleasantly surprised by how awesome God is in making everything work out just right. This verse is more about attitude and feeling of being in control; not just of ourselves, but in having control over other people. As soon as we start thinking that we matter more than others, we begin to sink below the level of worthiness; as in, you are not worthy. Not a place where you want to be found hanging out when Jesus comes back; that's for sure...
"So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God's obedient children. Don't slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn't know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, "You must be holy because I am holy." And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of Him during your time as "foreigners in the land."" (1 Peter 1:13-17) NLT
