"Seeking Who?"

"And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people." (John 7:12 KJV)

"Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!" (Psalm 32:1-2 NLT)

You would be amazed of the lack of understanding there is among the churches, of who Jesus was, what He did for us, and how important it is for us to believe in the powerful gift that has been given to us. If you do not believe that there is a hell, then it is hard to comprehend the magnitude of what was done on that cross; there is a death beyond the grave, just so you know, your life is not over when you take your last breath on this earth!

I was able to catch an interview that Todd did with a young man named Brandon, as Brandon was being asked to share in four minutes, as a Christian, the important news that people needed to know about the Christian life and what it offered. He spoke four minutes about being part of a club that would give you purpose and continuity as being a part of something that makes your life better and will make you a better person. Much like a social club, but one that makes everyone part of a bigger team.

It was hard to listen to what he was saying, because in the heart of many, so called Christians, there is a very similar spirit that agrees with what was being said. There is a movie, from twenty years ago, called, "Time Changer," where the main character wants to teach students at a Christian school the lesson of doing good, in order to find Jesus and become a better person; or something in that order. He ends up being sent into the future to experience what that kind of thinking does, and why trying to be good, does nothing but give a false security; and that good is defined differently by many people.

Earlier in the day, I was able to catch part of another message where the Pastor spoke of a man that had never cheated on his with, had never stolen, never lied, always given to the church and the poor; was a very good person, or so it seemed. But he was short tempered, very judgmental, and really did not love others, very much at all. Was this man good?

What does good have to do with it? Because we really cannot become good enough to earn eternal life! No matter how hard we try, there is really only one way to be good enough for eternal life, and it is not our goodness that will make it happen! Jesus was not just a good Man; He was the Son of Man, to show us the Goodness of God! He came as a man, to lay down His life, that we might inherit eternal life, being freed from our sins, made innocent before God, and freely given a right-standing in the eyes of our Heavenly Father!

If that does not do it for you, then you need to start over again, making the cross the crossroad of your new life...

"The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18 NLT)
