"Partition"

"And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever." (Psalms 136:14)

It would be wonderful if we could say this settled it for His children, but that was not the case; they were made to pass through the mighty parted sea, and yet, it would only be a short while for them to forget and murmur about God trying to kill them again. I know that things are a little different for us now, since we have the Holy Spirit abiding in us; but they had signs and wonders; and not only that, God was leading them by day in a pillar of a cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire. What more could He do to show His power and might? You must remember that this was prior to the Ten Commandments, but they were still under the curse, that which was the result of Adam's sin. This is the big difference between then and now: Jesus had not yet died for their sins! There are so many things that we do not understand or know; but this much we do know, is the God that created us loves us! There is absolutely no disputing that! We might fail and do things that might even anger Him, but He is a God of mercy: mercy enough to forgive every sin of every single person that has ever lived. We just need to be able to rest in that mercy and believe that He loves us, despite our failures and our stupid rebellions. The greatest lesson we see in this, is the fact that He made them pass through the midst of the sea. O, it might be something that some portray as showing them gladly moving forward; but the whole point of, "made," is that He forced them to go through the midst of the parted sea. Which brings me to another point about "Israel" and what it means: "God prevails!" Long story short: If you are His child, you will make it to wherever He wants you to go! If you don't think that is the truth, then you can wait and ask Jonah. No, wait a minute: If you get to ask Jonah, then you will already know, because you will have made it yourself! Then you will know for sure, God made it possible for you to get there, even though you might not have deserved it, or earned it; which is something that we could never ever do: You can never earn your salvation! It is a Gift from God, and guess what happens when you accept God's Gift; He does not take it back. O, there are so many things that we do not know: which, my dear friends is another idol, that of knowing or lack thereof...

"For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. But they rebelled, and vexed his Holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his Holy Spirit within him? That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name? That led them through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble? As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest; so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name." (Isaiah 63:8-14)
