"Power to Do"

"Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed." (Psalms 119:80)

Isn't amazing how this all works out? How it is not about us and our testimonies, but about God and His statutes! If you need to be reminded, "statutes" are God's prescribed portions or tasks; but more than that, they are established and definite! Case in point, Moses: Born at a time when he should have been killed, yet not only did he survive, but he ends up raised in Pharaoh's house. Then, just when he faces death again, he is separated from Egypt for 40 years, when he finally meets God and learns of his real purpose. For such a time as this, is that story of each and every servant of God, throughout the Bible and through the ages. I can't explain how it works; neither can anyone else. God does what He does because He knows best how everything is going to turn out, in each of our lives, and in His Story! Because it is all about Him! That verse that explains it best is found in 2 Corinthians 4:7, and it says, "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us." It is God doing in us what is best for His testimony of His goodness and of His love. We are servants, however that might look, and whatever form that might take, we are servants of His Story; the Master is creating His masterpiece, and we are all part of the work. I cannot help but think of that parable Jesus gave of the Wedding Feast, the one where He called out a man for not wearing the Wedding Garment. That man felt ashamed for not putting on the Garment: That Garment was Jesus Christ...

"And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming." (1 John 2:28) KJV
