"Surrender Your Life..."

"Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed." (Psalms 89:51)
I know it might seem a little repugnant, but give it a moment to sink in, because the answer to the question we seek is much simpler than we think. Remember what this Psalm is about, "God's Agreement with David." Was David a perfect man? No, he had faults just like you and I do; but he knew how to surrender his life to the Lord! He knew where to run to when nothing else made sense! He knew that God loved him! I was reminded of that simple little fact, as I watched the trailer for the movie "Ragamuffin." I had the privilege of meeting Rich Mullins back in 1990, and he wrote a little note on my sons hat, that simply said, "Love God." What else is there to do? He loves us with a love that is unconditional; His love is not conditioned upon our merit or performance, it's based upon His! What part of that don't we understand? So what if they reproach us! So what if God's enemies are our enemies; isn't that the way that it should be? Jesus said, "They will hate you, because they hated me," so why should we make it into something that it's not? Jesus came to this world to die for sinners; He came to save the lost, those who need to be reconciled back to God, their Father. The same Father that sent Him here to die for us on that cross, is the Father that loves us unconditionally. We just need to accept that, cherish that, and hold onto that with all of our might! And another thing we must always remember, that it does not matter who you are or what you might be going through, there will always be those that will mock and misrepresent your life and relationship that you have with God. It is simply the way it is; the enemies of God are the enemies of God's people too. There is only One place to run to; there is only One that we can really count on to be there for us in the end. So, no matter what you have done, or what you might think about yourself, or how miserable you might have messed up your life, if there is still breath in your lungs, you're still in the race! Besides, we are meant to be all about the joy of knowing Jesus! That is all that really matters; do you know Jesus, and do you know that He loves you? Look how frail we really are, and then remember Who lives in us...
"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, "Come back to God!" For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:17-21) NLT
