"Life Illuminated"

"His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me." (Psalms 89:36)
Number five of the six verses to point to Jesus, this is one that makes me think of the portion of the Book of Revelation that describes the Throne of God which needs no light, nor sun, because God is the Light. As with that closing Scripture from yesterday, Jesus has gone before us into the Holy Place, and we get to join Him there based upon what He has established in us. We were just a gritty irritant which became a prize possession, and it all happened in Christ Jesus. There is absolutely nothing we have done to make us into the pearls we have become, except to be that irritant! Isn't that something? Next time you start thinking that you're something great and special, just remember what it was that you started as and what you have done. It was you and I that nailed Jesus to that cross; He went willingly, but our sins nailed Him there! You would think that the Jews would have figured it out; you would think that they would have seen the light, but something had blinded their hearts and caused them to become angry at the One who came to save them. That is what we are witnessing in the world today, that same anger at truth and justice, is the same kind of anger which was demonstrated in the Jews towards Jesus Christ. The more Jesus tried to correct them, the angrier they became; the more Jesus shinned the light of the word, the more offended they were by Him. It is really hard to place it in any kind of specific category, except the fact that they are all dead spiritually and have no willingness to be brought to life. Do you know what happens to people that are of the dead? They seem to except killing as something which okay, as long as it's to make things easier on themselves. The Jews saw Jesus as a threat, someone who could upset their way of life. Besides being offended by Him, they also felt threatened by His ability to reach the people with the truth. I don't know, but I think there is something familiar in all of that. Life and the protection of it, no matter how small, it is a life that Jesus died for, and it is His prized possession...
""Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, 'Father, save me from this hour'? But this is the very reason I came! Father, bring glory to your name." Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, "I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again." When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him. Then Jesus told them, "The voice was for your benefit, not mine. The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself." He said this to indicate how he was going to die. The crowd responded, "We understood from Scripture that the Messiah would live forever. How can you say the Son of Man will die? Just who is this Son of Man, anyway?" Jesus replied, "My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light." After saying these things, Jesus went away and was hidden from them." (John 12:27-36) NLT
