"Anonymity"

"Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright." (Psalms 33:1) Okay, so just so you know, this is the first Psalm of about 33 that does not have an introduction, or a reference as to who wrote it and why. Most likely this Psalm was penned by David; although, it could be anyone that sat under him as a pupil in his court, for David was known to have some pretty serious Bible studies back in the day. Although, I would not be surprised at all if it turns out that Ezra himself was the one who took the liberty to add a few words of his own, seeing that he was probably the one that put the Psalms into their order; kind of like his own contribution to the flow, or the glue between the veneers; after all, both the book of Ezra and the book of Nehemiah are considered to be one Book, and they tell of the reestablishment of God's temple and the worship of God, the God of Israel's people, the One who separated them unto Himself. Besides that, the name Ezra in and of itself is enough to give a clue to the glue, for his name means "Help", and he was the priest who led God's people home; the main message of his writings, was, God uses whomever suits His purpose, whether they be powerful leaders, or common farmers, God empowered His chosen people to overcome all opposition, even against impossible odds. Regardless of the author, God is the behind the etchings, and the One who directed the hands of him who wrote every word, whether upon tablet or scroll, each and every Book of the Bible is God's Love Letter to His people, whether they realize it or not! The key to the beginning of this Psalm is that of the word "upright", and to straighten is the most proper meaning in the context of what is being put forth; as if God is straightening the position of a branch in His garden, or making a tender tree stand upright, using whatever is at His disposal to help prop it up and to make it straight... "Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and He hath charged me to build Him a house at Jerusalem, which is Judah. Who is there among you of all His people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, He is the God, which is in Jerusalem. And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, besides the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem." (Ezra 1:1-4)
