"For Our Love"

"The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant." (Psalms 25:14) The second part of this verse has really spoken to me this morning, because it speaks about God's "covenant", which is more than just a contract or a pledge, it is a alliance of friendship that comes with a divine ordinance containing signs and pledges. The number one commandment is one that comes with promise: that if we love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength, then our life will be filled with peace and joy that surpasses all understanding. With that, I am thinking of what it means to "fear Him", and how that relates to how we love Him with all of our might. On a smaller scale, we could try and compare our love towards God as we love our spouse, and think of all your thoughts you have in your mind throughout the day; comparing those thoughts you have for your spouse, and those that you have which you know your spouse would be offended by; now imagine if your spouse knew your every thought. Day in and day out, every waking and dreaming thought that goes through your mind, your spouse has access to each and every one of them; do you think that they would feel loved? Would they know how much you loved them, and only them, with all of your heart? God sees each and every thought that we entertain in our minds, and He knows our heart, and what it is that we really love, whether that is Him or something else. That in mind, we look at the "fear Him" to mean that we are afraid of offending Him, because we are commanded to love Him with all of our might, and He knows when we fall short of that commandment! It's really amazing how this works, because the more we love the Lord, the more of His love we feel in our hearts; it's more than just a commandment that we love Him; it is more than for our benefit; it is for our love, that we would know what real love is, and how the most powerful force in the universe can take you beyond anywhere else known to mankind..."Because of the savour of Thy good ointments Thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love Thee." (Song of Solomon 1:3) (I know it is repetitive, but it is so much worth repeating!)
