"Simply Believe"

 "Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God." (John 16:30 KJV)

  "For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all of creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable." (Hebrews 4:12-13 NLT)

 Once upon a time, as the story goes, things were seemingly so much easier to understand; there really wasn't so much to think about, as we just did what we needed to do to provide for our families, and plan things to do with one another. Now, as if this has changed anything, we are still reading the same Word of God, praying for His soon return, and hoping we are found worthy, when He does! 

 I really do believe that He is coming soon, as there are just too many things happening today, most of which I think God cannot tolerate that it is happening. The point that the disciples are making, is more than just believing that Jesus came from God, but that there is nothing hidden from Him, not even our thoughts, and our innermost desires! 

 In other words, He knows what we are going to say, before we say anything! That might not seem all that amazing, since it is expected to be the attribute God has the ability to do. But the amazing part in all of that, is that we continually forget that it is so, making plans and thinking about things we should not do! If we could only just stop the thought; cut it off, as if it does not even belong in our minds! 

 Well, we have a Helper! We have the Holy Spirit living within us, to not only help us to overcome those things that cause us to stumble, but He will also empower us to obey. Oh, if it were only that easy! If only I could replace those thoughts with something else, as soon as I start to think about them? 

 Just in case you are wondering what it is that we need, His name is JESUS: The Living Word of God...

"So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." (Hebrews 4:14-16 NLT)
