"Pay Attention"

"They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith." (John 16:18 KJV)

"There is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don't seem to listen." (Hebrews 5:11 NLT)

This is one of those verses that has convinced me that this was written by more than one person, as they are trying to explain something to Jews, that cannot see the spiritual content of what they are saying. There was a certain verse I was torn over when I first became a believer, it was Psalms 103:12, which says, "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."

The main point of my uncertainty was that there are two ways to look at that verse, based on God's work of removing our transgressions, or our direction of being obedient to Him. Basically, what that implies, is that He will remove our transgressions, as if they were never there; but the ones who don't fear Him, as it were, will walk back into transgressions.

That might be hard to understand, because there is one point which makes God's work in us unstoppable, and another which makes us accountable for our action. The only reason that it becomes something to be careful to pay attention to, is because it is surrounded by two other verses, 11 & 13! Verse 11 says, "For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him." And verse 13 says,  "Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him."

This is where we need to be cautious and make sure we know what the Lord requires of us! The disciples had their focus on time, as if there was more physical explaining that they needed, instead of being focused upon the spiritual meaning, which was meant to be something outside of their way of thinking.

I cannot be the perfect person that I think I can be, outside of Christ Jesus, who makes me perfect! That is why our most important thing we can do, is to believe in Jesus Christ, and the power of everything that He has done to make us fit for the Kingdom! Yes, we have got to fear God! But do we always fear Him as we should? Not when we sin; surely not when we transgress; and certainly not when be practice iniquity.

I say practice, in reference to iniquity, because you don't just fall into iniquity, you have to grow and work towards it. You can sin and transgress without knowing what you are doing, but iniquity means that you know what you are doing is wrong, but you do it anyways! Good thing none of us are guilty of doing that, because that is doing wickedness!

We must understand who wrote Psalm 103 and what David is speaking about: GOD'S LOVE...

"If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts." (1 John 1:1-10 NLT)
