"Dialed In"

"O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help." (Psalms 71:12) In my opinion, God is only as far away as you make Him. If He is distant from you in your life, in the way that you live your life, then He will remain that way for you when you need His help; not because He is not near, because He is never far away; but because that is your experience of the relationship you have with Him. Besides, don't you know that the Holy Spirit dwells within you? So if the Holy Spirit dwells within you, then God really is always near. Now comes some critical questions regarding our relationship with the Holy Spirit; because if He is in us, but we are distant from Him, then there must be something seriously wrong with our relationship. By the way, you do understand what it means to be "unequally yoked?" It's not just about marriage, although that's what it's been made out to be. It's more about teamwork in the relationship, where both or all are working together in one direction or for one common goal. It just so happens that marriage is a common example of what that should look like, where a husband and wife are joined together, and the two become one. Besides, the Holy Spirit is not going to force you to do anything; so if your not feeling pressured, it's not because He is not there, it's because you are not listening to His voice! Personally, I have come to understand a few things about how this works; having experience teaching myself to sin, I know what it takes to ignore what the Holy Spirit is trying to say; sometimes, also trying to do. Maybe as a kid, you had a little experience with this yourself; as your parents tried to tell you something, and you held your breath in an effort to drawn them out. It is like you can force your ears shut if you apply enough pressure to the inside of your head; it is very similar to the way we harden our hearts to the voice of the Spirit. The problem with doing that, is that there can be some critical damage as a result. For the child that continually forces their ears shut, they could damage their eyesight, or even a blood vessel inside their head. For the believer that continues to harden their heart, they could grow callus to the voice, to the point of never listening, and our spiritual vision is very distorted. But God!!! God will not abandon you! Don't listen to anyone or thing that tries to tell you different! He has said, "I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." (Joshua 1:5) That same God is always there, waiting for you to listen, waiting for you to submit your life to Him, and waiting to get things done. Get dialed in, and start listening to what He says, and start doing what He says. That is all that there is to it; just do it...
"Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with a unbeliever? And what union can there be between God's temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: "I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be My people. Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don't touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. And I will be your Father, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty." Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God." (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1) NLT
