"Make This Work!"

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." (John 13:34 KJV)

"Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other's burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important." (Galatians 6:1-5 NLT)

There are many Scriptures that share this same sentiment, about loving one another; this one, from the Book of Galatians, is being chosen because Galatians is a letter the Paul wrote to the church which had fallen back into the bondage of the law. For those who might not feel obligated to love one another, as we can see here, Paul references, "The Law of Christ!"

This is something we must do, even when we feel that we don't want to do it; for whatever reason that might be, it is not good enough for us to obey our flesh in this matter, because we are going against the law of Christ: His commandment, that we love one another. Because it is a commandment, it means that we do not have a choice; no matter what kind of a hang-up you might have over the matter, the matter is your issue to overcome, because you must make this work!

I really don't have the time to give all of the reasons, but there is one great reason that this must work: So that the unbelieving world around us can see Christ's love in our lives! They will know that we are Christians by our love! That's not just a catchy phrase or lyrics to a song, that is the Truth, and we must make it work...

"If someone says, "I love God," but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for is we don't love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their Christian brothers and sisters." (1 John 4:20-21 NLT)
