"Help Comes From the Lord"

"PSALMS 121 "A Song of degrees."

Just in case you were wondering, I had thought of spending some more time in the end of Psalm 120, but thought it best to not undo anything God might have done. Oh, I think that might be the key to understanding this next Psalm; because the simple fact to God's power and might, is that we can never undo anything God is doing! Besides that, the thing that all three of those references had in common, and what the closing Scripture was meant to show, was that of compromise; how easy it is to find a way to compromise, sometimes without even knowing. God says one thing, but we might interpret it a totally different way; or we might think that we can help God in making things happen on our own; when all along, it was God making us wait. Or was it? Stop and think what God knows, and try to imagine what that might look like; if He knows everything that is going to happen before it actually happens, don't you think He has made some kind of adjustment for what that might do? After all, who's plan is this? Who holds the brush in this magnificent painting that is being made? Adam and Eve are one of the easiest and the hardest to examine, if you are actually looking for answers. Let's start with the first word of the title up above, as "Help" was the reason that Adam blamed God for his trespass and sin. "And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make a help meet for him."" (Genesis 2:18) I am not saying that God sets us up to sin, because that is not the case at all; James tells us very plainly, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." (James 1:17) God gives us good and perfect gifts, which we corrupt by our own lusts and misunderstandings. I say misunderstanding to be nice, because we all know that it is perfectly clear in our hearts what God wants us to do, we just play dumb and act like we don't understand what He said. In that regard, this term "degrees" is that of height, as in the highness of God's ways and thoughts: They are so much higher than anything we think we know or can imagine...

"So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves." (James 1:21-22) NLT
