"The Power of Forgiveness"

"Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth." (Ecclesiastes 11:2 KJV)

""But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don't try to get them back. Do to others as you would like them to do to you."" (Luke 6:27-31 NLT)

Maybe this is a case of me scratching the surface, looking for things which might not exist; but, then again, if we are trying to set some sort of example, this might be a very good place to start. There is a special hidden secret about the power of forgiveness: The biggest benefactor in the act of forgiving is the one that forgives!

If you really must know, you don't even need to forgive someone face to face; although it does help to know what they think and how they might react. But there are sometimes those who we want to forgive, but they might have already passed on and we have no chance to tell them that we forgive them. What then? Do we wait to hopefully great them in heaven?

Why should we punish ourselves for something that was done to us? Forgiveness means that you have the power to forgive; whether they can be reached out to, or can never be found, this is something that takes place within our hearts; a decision we make, which helps us to love someone, regardless of what they might have done.

Guess who knows what you have done: The One that matters most of all...

""If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! And if you do good only to those who are good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return. "Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to get repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate."" (Luke 6:32-36 NLT)
