"By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through." (Ecclesiastes 10:18 KJV)
"Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God's promises because of their faith and endurance." (Hebrews 6:11-12 NLT)
There is something special about this title, if you are wondering how it might compare with this very strange and interesting verse dealing with slothfulness and idleness: Putting off that which God has given us to do, will wear you down and you will not have peace! Do you need some examples?
""I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow. Oh, that you had listened to my commands! Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea."" (Isaiah 48:17-18 NLT)
""Anyone who doesn't love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me. I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative - that is, the Holy Spirit - he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. "I and leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid."" (John 14:24-27 NLT)
"Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again - rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don't worry about anything: instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:4-7 NLT)
And who can ignore: "The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me." (PSALM 23:1-4 NLT)
Father, I pray that you would help us to be good stewards of the wonderful peace that you have given us, not forgetting the great hope we have in your promises and your amazing love for us, that you proved by sending your Son to die for our sins. Help us to be vessels worthy of your calling and the purposes you have for our lives. Make us know and understand that nothing we might go through in this life can take away the eternal life we have been given; and nothing will ever be able to remove us from your hand! In the name of Jesus, our KING, Amen...
