"Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth." (Ecclesiastes 11:2 KJV)
"Then Peter came to him and asked, "Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?" "No, not seven times," Jesus replied, "but seventy times seven!"" (Matthew 18:21-22 NLT)
What we are looking at, (remembering that we are sharing about 'The Uncertainties of life'), is the idea of being prepared for that which you must do, not being concerned over how it affects you, but more about what it does for others. Jesus said, "Do unto others as you would have them do to you," so in clear view of what that looks like, we are prepared to do right, no matter if we might be treated wrong in the process.
In other words, because of the love and compassion that we have been given by our Heavenly Father, we must have love and compassion for others, which basically means, that we are willing to show others the love and compassion, no matter what! That might sound easy to do, (not), but as much as we might plan to be loving and compassionate, when we get offended or taken advantage of, we turn and care more about ourselves.
As crazy as it might sound, but this power of forgiveness is closely associated with the cheerful giver, as everything is to be done in a way to honor God, not ourselves! Actually, there is so much more that they have in common; but the main point of what our responsibility is, as a child of God, is to give glory and honor to Him, in all that we do; especially with the way we treat others...
"So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness. You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God's temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor. And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What's more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God." (1 Peter 2:1-5 NLT)
