"Saved From the Curse"

"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." (John 3:17 KJV)

"Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." (Isaiah 53:12 KJV)

To all of us that know the story, it is sometimes easy for us to forget the tiny little detail about how we once were condemned and had no hope. It is going on 40 years, and it is hard for me to recall what it was like to not have hope; I might loose hope over some work related issue, or even over the health of my wife, but those are things that are attached to this world, so I learn to cope.

Because of what Jesus has done for us, we have hope for something greater than this life; this life that is still under the curse, but is no longer in control over us! I hope you understand that, because it is really a pretty big deal. You can still be affected by sickness and death, as we all must live through each passing day; but it no longer controls our outcome or our confidence in our salvation.

I know it is hard to deal with certain things, we all have pain and afflictions from time to time. Some might be hurting over the lose of a loved one, some might even feel pain from a personal sickness; but no matter what, we keep pressing towards that greater hope, that which sickness and death cannot alter or take away. Jesus did not die on that cross to free us from sickness and the pain of dying and death; He saved us from the curse of sin, that curse which God warned Adam about, spiritual death!

That is most likely why it is so hard to remember, being set free gives us a new outlook, an outlook that cannot familiarize itself with the bondage of being lost and without hope. Even if I try to think about what it was like, it has totally lost any strength it once had. Those He has set free, are free indeed...

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
