"One Who Reveres God"

PSALMS 128 [A Song of degrees.]

Another Psalms that addresses families and what it means for the prosperity of a Believer's life. There is a certain happiness gained by having a reverence for God; besides the fact that we get to escape feeling ashamed, there is the knowledge of knowing that He is watching us and cares for us, more than we care for our own eternal security. One thing that I failed to mention yesterday, in regard to the Preacher and the Teacher, is that the greatest benefit that they have and know, is the Word of God. There is no way that His Word can be denied as real; there is just too much truth to allow for it to happen; there are too many prophecies fulfilled to debunk the truth. Besides, the best proof that we have presented to us, is that of a changed life! The happiness might come and go, but the joy of the Lord is there to stay! If you don't believe me, try it out for yourself. Try all you want to be happy when you are not feeling a reason to be happy; because happiness is being in a happy place. But joy, joy is something that is not about a place; joy is about being loved, and if you know anything about how that works, the Being loving us is not effected by our emotions; He loves us no matter how we feel about our love towards Him, His love for us never changes. I don't know about you, but there are times when I really don't feel very lovable or worthy of His love; those are the times when I am seriously out of my happy place, that place where I feel unashamed. But God, He does not change! Joy can be felt with or without me being in my happy place, because the God that loves me cannot be contained in any place or even in time; regardless of what time it is or how long it has been since I was in my happy place, wherever that place might be found. Anywho, this is a Psalm about prosperity, but not the kind of prosperity that you think. This is about the kind of prosperity that cannot be lost or taken. It cannot be denied, does not change, and will not ever go away. How do you think any of that is possible? Believe it or not, but "Reveres" has much to do with that...

"We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love." (1 John 4:16-18) NLT
