"Recommitment" -2

"I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people, in the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD." (Psalms 116:18-19)

In case you might be wondering, any recommitment that involves God and His working in our lives, does not involve remodeling or any strategy on our parts; it involves listening and obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Anything less than that is not going to count as real recommitment. We cannot have it both ways, to obey the Lord and also do whatever we want; the two are totally opposite directions. As far as the dedication of Solomon, he totally understood that it was all God's doing. We don't make things happen, we allow God to work things out by obeying what He tells us to do. It is not really a matter of just listening, because if it were, we would have not needed Jesus to die on the cross on our behalf. We need to put effort into what we hear God tell us to do; what ever it is, either to do or not to do, we cannot ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit. It starts by us obeying His voice, if we cannot or will not, He does not force us to listen, but there will be consequences if we don't. Not that it really matters, but just because God knows beforehand what you will do, does not give us the liberty to do whatever we want. We have no idea what we are meant to do or not do; only God knows the end of the matter...

""Everything is meaningless," says the Teacher, "Completely meaningless." Keep this in mind: The Teacher was considered wise, and he taught the people everything he knew. He listened carefully to many proverbs, studying and classifying them. The Teacher sought to find just the right words to express truths clearly. The words of the wise are like cattle prods -painful but helpful. Their collected sayings are like a nail-studded stick with which a shepherd drives the sheep. But, my child, let me give you some further advice: Be careful, for writing books is endless, and much study wears you out. That's the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone's duty. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad." (ECCLESIASTES 12:8-14) NLT
