"Relentless"

"Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy." (Psalms 99:3)
If you have been following this blog for any amount of time, you should have realized by now that I sometimes don't finish what I started. It's really not all that important, because this is a one day at a time ordeal; but I do try the best that I know how to stick to the text, in one way or another. There is something else we should know about this amazing God that we serve, He does not give up on us! We might give up on Him; we might even pretend that He isn't even there anymore, watching over us or concerned with what we do or are going through. But God does not stop! He always finishes every thing that He starts, including getting us through to the other side. When we commit our lives into the Lord's hands, all bets are off! No matter what you are going through and no matter what direction you might think that you are headed in, God's hand is always going to be held firmly upon your life. He might let you go so far that it takes your life, but that's not the end for those that have been purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ. I heard Pastor Mike try and explain the impossible yesterday, as a caller wanted to know about predestination. Basically, it all comes down to whether or not we choose Jesus Christ as our Savior; it's just between us and the Lord! If we choose to accept that He is our Savior, then we are destined for heaven, if we don't, then we are destined for hell; God already knows who ends up where, but we don't; for us, it's all about choice. Pastor Matt, who comes on right after Mike, gave an illustration of how far God will go to complete what He has started, even to the point of snatching us from the fires of hell, as he said something like this: "We might be smoldering, even still smoking from the fire, but we will make it to heaven." It was funny to imagine that in my mind, almost like the coyote who always tried to catch the roadrunner, is what I imagined. Please don't let the enemy of your soul try and convince you that God has given up on you; God is not like us, He never gives up! So don't try and associate God's character with that of your own, there is nothing even close to holiness in our character; even this born again creature is frail and corrupted...
"Then Hannah prayed: "My heart rejoices in the LORD! The LORD has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me. No one is like the LORD! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. "Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don't speak with such arrogance! For the LORD is a God who knows what you have done; he will judge your actions. The bow of the mighty is now broken, and those who stumbled are now strong. Those who were fed are now starving, and those who were starving are now full. The childless woman now has seven children, and the woman with many children wastes away. The LORD gives both death and life; he brings some down to the grave but raises others up. The LORD makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up. He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, places them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the LORD's, and he has set the world in order. "He will protect his faithful ones, but the wicked will disappear in darkness. No one will succeed by strength alone. Those who fight against the LORD will be shattered. He thunders against them from heaven; the LORD judges throughout the earth. He gives power to the king; he increases the strength of his anointed one."" (1 Samuel 2:1-10) NLT
