"A Prayer for Relief"

Psalms 54 [To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us?] Without getting to personal, I think there are days when "Relief" is not really good enough; it's nice, but it's not going to last very long, and tomorrow, we will just have to deal with the same old stuff again. Although, God promises to get us through today, tomorrow is another day with a whole new set of circumstances; and He will get us through that day also, one day at a time. Time, money and strength, those seem to be the three things that I am always trying to get rounded up together so that I can get things done; yet they are the three things that keep seeming to have polar opposites, and they almost never come together all at once. Usually I try to use this time of the year to try and make things work differently; a new year, can sometimes mean a new day to get things started out right; at least that is the way I hope things will go. If you know this story of the Ziphims, they came to Saul on their own accord, not once, but twice (1 Samuel 23:19 & 26:1); and each time, things did not work out so well for Saul when he came out for David. Somehow that speaks into the issues of our daily lives; not that we all have the same issues and set of circumstances, but we do have something in common: we are all looking for some kind of relief from something, we all have something that gives us some kind of relief, and we all have someone or something that is trying to stop us from getting relief. And yet, we have relief available to us, no matter what the circumstance, and no matter what form of issue that we face, we have relief in God; our problem is not that we cannot get relief, it's that we can't bottle it up and hold onto it long enough to make it last all year. The older I get, the more I realize how impossible it is to get lasting relief in this world; yet I know that real relief is coming, it's just that it not going to come here; but in the meantime, we have relief in the moment; moment by moment, and each day at a time, that is how God wants us to be. It's like that manna in the wilderness, where we get just enough for today; if we try and gather more for tomorrow, then it is never any good for anything beyond today; that is unless it is ordained by God... "Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but, by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine upon them." (2 Corinthians 4:1-4)
