"We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle." (Hebrews 13:10 KJV)
"If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure." (1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NLT)
Okay, let me first start be explaining this altar that we have, as if you don't already know: the altar that we serve is the cross of Christ! That is not something we take lightly, but something we make a part of our duty to remember, especially when we are tempted to sin! It isn't that we have to lay down a sacrifice or perform any kind of a ritual, as they did in the Temple; because our body is now the Temple of God, as the Holy Spirit dwells within us!
Hopefully that is sound doctrine to those who understand the true meaning of the cross of Christ; as He was the sacrifice that ended all those burnt offerings, having been the Lamb of God, who took away all the sins of this wicked world! Yet, when we are tempted, with whatever sin we like; remember that Jesus was crucified on the cross, so that whatever you like, will become something you will detest and washaway, so that even thinking about it makes you sick.
Truth be told, we only feel comfortable doing the sins that we like...
"So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has power to save your souls. But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what is says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it." (James 1:21-25 NLT)
