"And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed." (Hebrews 12:13 KJV)
"The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we share the same Spirit." (1 Corinthians 12:12-13 NLT)
Shining a little different light on the weak and strong, this morning I felt that fellowship was most meant to be the topic of this verse. As it is, we are all part of the same body of believers, each and everyone us are filled with the same Spirit, serve the same God, and share with the same love, for one another; at least that is what it should be!
The point I feel that needs to be made, is all about those that are of the body which might be lame, that doesn't necessarily mean those that are crippled, but those that are not fitting in, or don't really know how to truly associate and fellowship with their brothers and sisters. They might be referred to as the weaker parts of the body, which are actually those that should get a little more attention.
Almost every church has certain groups that all hang out together and keep each other in fellowship; but it should be the way we treat everyone! Especially those who might seem timid or weak in their faith, as they might be turned out of the way, feeling as though they don't fit...
"In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary." (1 Corinthians 12:22 NLT)
