"More Than a Feeling"

"For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest," (Hebrews 12:18 KJV)

""Go out and stand before me on the mountain," the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was a sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"" (1 Kings 19:11-13 NLT)

Have you ever been ministered to by Morman Mistionary's? They have this certain thing that they do, as they share something with you, and then speak about the 'burning in the bosom,' as if that is a means of confirmation that what they are telling you is true. That might work for some, but those of us that know how God works, feelings are physical, meaning they are of the flesh, not of the Holy Spirit!

There is more to this than I can explain in a way that might make sense; but if we go back to the beginning, to Adam and Eve, and the fruit that they were told not eat, feelings were a big part of what caused them to do it anyway! You know that simple phrase: "If it feels good, do it!" This is more or less just something the devil uses to distract us from listening to God's voice...

"Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in the sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God's grace." (Romans 6:12-14 NLT)
