"Surprise, Surprise!"

"And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour; and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!" (John 19:14 KJV)

""So tell them, 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says,: May all your jars be filled with wine.' And they will reply, 'Of course! Jars are made to be filled with wine!' "Then tell them, 'No, this is what the LORD means: I will fill everyone in this land with drunkenness - from the king sitting on David's throne to the priests and the prophets, right down to the common people of Jerusalem. I will smash them against each other, even parents against children, saith the LORD. I will not let my pity or mercy or compassion keep from destroying them.'"" (Jeremiah 13:12-14 NLT)

And judge he did! The funny thing is, he knew all along that they were pretending to honor Caesar; if Jesus would have been against Caesar, having the following that He did, they would have most likely been for Him, not against Him. But, as it was, Jesus had come for something else; something that they were not expecting, nor did they feel as though they needed it: Salvation!

If you might note, the King is made as One to be honored; as if Pilate was making a statement, confirming that Jesus was the King of the Jews. As he had made a sign to be placed over the cross, thus proclaiming who He was, no matter what the Jews might say, he judged this accordingly! Some think he might have been wearing his robe, as he came out with Jesus, signifying that he was Judge, making what he was going to say, final and based upon his rule.

Having said that, making any case as to what Pilate might have been saying, is only conjecture, and is basing an opinion without incomplete information. Much as it is for the time of day! Some say the third hour, some say the sixth; regardless of the actual time, either, based on the Jewish clock, or the Roman clock, the real time: Was the time for the preparation of The Passover!

To be bold, my thought would be sunrise! Which, according to the Roman time, would put it at 6am in the morning; but who really cares? I think I know who might care, the Author of the Book! He is the One that is telling the story, and He is the One that has made the time...

""Take special care of this chosen animal until the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month. Then the whole assembly of the community of Israel must slaughter their lamb or young goat at twilight. They are to take some of the blood and smear it on the sides and top of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the animal. That same night they must roast the meat over a fire and eat it along with bitter salad greens and bread made without yeast. Do not eat any of the meat raw or boiled in water. The whole animal - including the head, legs, and internal organs - must be roasted over the fire. Do not leave any of it until the next morning. Burn whatever is not eaten before morning. "These are your instructions for eating this meal: Be fully dressed, wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the LORD'S Passover. On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the LORD! But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking your house where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt."" (Exodus 12:6-13 NLT)
