"No Friend of Caesar"

"And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let him go, thou art not Caeser's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar." (John 19:12 KJV)

"Then the officials went together to Damiel's house and found him praying and asking for God's help. So they went straight to the king and reminded him about his law. "Did you not sign a law that for the next thirty days and person who prays to anyone, divine or human - except to you, Your Majesty - will be thrown into the den of lions?" "Yes," the king replied, "that decision stands; it is an official law of the Medes and Persians that cannot be revoked." Then they told the king, "That man Daniel, one of the captives from Judah, is ignoring you and your law. He still prays to his God three times a day." Hearing this, the king was deeply troubled, and he tried to think of a way to save Daniel. He spent the rest of the day looking for a way to get Daniel out of this predicament." (Daniel 6:11-14 NLT)

Maybe I either said too much or didn't say enough; but the one thing I know for sure; I shared my heart! If you have ever counseled anyone that had someone they love commit suicide, then you know that it is hard to consult them; they hope that their loved one is in a good place, but they also know they were in a really bad place when they decided to take their own life.

Last night I was watching, "Table Talk," and had heard Pastor Jack's theory over the whole Covid thing that took place in 2020 and 2021. I was relieved to hear him say exactly what I said in September of 2021, "That for the most part, it had a spiritual power behind it!" Not sure if any of you remember what I was going through then, because it was by far, the most spiritual night I have ever experienced.

Be that as it may, the battle belongs to the LORD! Whether divine or human, God is over everything, spiritual or not, He fights for us! When it comes to our knowledge of what happens in the invisible world that is all around us, we are as clueless as we are about the human heart! We know absolutely nothing!

If you think you are strong enough to withstand anything or control your sinful nature, you are only fooling yourself and have no hope to cope with anything! As soon as you think that you have what it takes to be a strong and obedient warrior for Christ, you will find rather quickly, that you are not as strong as you think you are!

Any power you have to defeat the enemy is from the LORD! Only by the power of the Holy Spirit are we empowered to overcome sin in our lives. There are only two ways to walk in this world, either we walk in the Spirt, or we walk in the flesh! Hopefully, you are not trying to walk in both!

John is writing this message, most likely 50 years after this event took place, and he is focused on the things which represent the Deity of Jesus Christ. Without any question, these Jews were not making any kind of allegiance or statement about being friends with Caesar, because they were not! They were only using this statement to convict Pilate, making him feel as though he did not respect Caesar if he called Jesus a king.

By the way! If you are paying any attention to the spiritual activity going on in this world, then you might be starting to feel as though things are all starting to come together, rather rapidly; without much of a pause...

"They sent some of their disciples, along with the supporters of Herod, to meet with him. "Teacher," they said, "we know how honest you are. You teach the way of God truthfully. You are impartial and don't play favorites. Now tell us what you think and this: Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" But Jesus knew their evil motives. "You hypocrites!" he said. "Why are you trying to trap me? Here show me a coin used for the tax." When they handed him a Roman coin, he asked, "Whose picture and title are stamped on it?" "Caesar's," they replied. "Well then," he said, "give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God." His reply amazed them, and they went away." (Matthew 22:16-22 NLT)
