"Consistently"

"Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold." (S.O.S. 1:10)

Whether we might realize it or not, God has a way of making His point be known; the difference in what He says is all based upon our ability to hear and understand, because His point is always the same, regardless who it is He is speaking to. To be a little more specific, if I can, we are all cut from the same piece of cloth; each and every one of us, whatever race or color, all come from the same two couple, Adam and Eve.
Based upon what it is you believe, the variance in our color and our features, they are really only superficial, because underneath all of that, we are all the same. That said, this verse is another one of those interesting ways that God makes a point, and the interpretation gets pulled into several different directions.
Regardless of what you might think of Solomon, he was God's servant; he had a purpose in God's plan of redemption; and everything he did, whether it was good or bad, it was all used for God to be able to demonstrate the amazing power of His redemption, of the human soul! It is the soul of man that this is all about; it has always been about our soul, which is that part of us that continues on, way after this flesh we live in fades away.
Jesus made this point very clear, when He spoke about who it is we must fear, saying, "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28) In other words, we only need to listen to One voice; and that voice is consistent in everything He says; regardless of what you might think was said, you had better understand it!
With that, there is another matter to be discussed in this, which is that of indifference; which is the strange idea that comes into the heart of some, for whatever reason, that what God says does not apply to them. Or worse yet, that if it does apply to them, that there is some other way to get around it! God's rules are His law, they are one in the same! He says what He says because it is so, regardless who we might think we are or how much liberty we think we have been given.
For what it's worth, which just so happens to be quite a lot, the same rules apply with His love! He loves you more than you could ever know; so much so, that He has done everything possible, that He could do, in order to redeem your soul! He spared no expense; as Solomon will and can attest to! He did that which was beyond anything humanly possible; because there was no humanly way for it to be done...

"Therefore, as by the offense of one judgement came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: that as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 5:18-21)
