"NUN"

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalms 119:105)

Matthew Henry introduces this section of Scripture with, "Observe here." It fits the narrative perfectly, because the point being made is that God's word is the source of understanding; for man to understand who God is, who he is, and why it is that we need to read this Book! We had a candidate for President announce her intention to run, while it was snowing, and not wearing gloves; as a matter of fact, it looked like she made everyone up on the stage with her not wear gloves. But that wasn't the dumbest thing she did, she proclaimed that the first thing she was going to do when she was elected was to get the U.S. back into the Climate Accord, because, as she said, "I believe in science!" As soon as she said it, I could not help think of the movie Nacho Libre, when Nacho asked Esqueleto if he believed in God, and he replied, "No, I believe is science." That pretty much sums that up; and it is the basis on which many people discard the Bible as anything of authority. How do we get real understanding from the Bible? By believing that it is God's written word! If we do not believe that it is His word, we will come away confused and still wondering what it all means. It is more that just His love letter to His people, it is instruction for living and full life here on this earth, and to the eternal life hereafter...

"For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, "This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy." We observed and heard that voice from heaven when we with him on the holy mountain. Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place -until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts." (2 Peter 1:16-19) NLT
