"God is Better" -2

"He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings." (Psalms 40:2) Seeing that this is "A Song of Deliverance", we should acknowledge what it is that God has done for us; not just because it needs to be said, but because it needs to be lived out in our lives. Do you understand what I am saying? There really is nothing better than being lifted up by God; and when I say lifted up, I am talking about where we are actually above the mess and the decay; where all that really matters is the relationship that we have with God, and everything else just kind of takes care of it's self. When we are walking in the Spirit, that is how our life seems to flow. Speaking of flow, we should take note of the word "also" that David mentions here, because it should cause us to reread the first verse and see what it is there fore. Primarily, the first verse has to do with waiting on the Lord and knowing that He hears and is concerned with our cry; much like the cries of a infant, where the mother hears the cry, and is also concerned over the cry, but may or may not act upon it directly; mostly because she does not want her child to use crying as a way of expression or communication. If you use to being picked up and comforted every time that you start crying, then you can grow to think that crying is how you get attention; God really does not want a bunch of crybabies for children, but He does want us to be dependent upon Him just as a child is dependent upon it's parent for comfort and security. The horrible pit and the miry clay are still there, don't you know? The thing is, is that He has brought us up out of them, lifting us up and placing our feet upon the Rock of Jesus Christ, on which we stand, and must keep on standing; otherwise, we could end up back in that pit of miry clay, and we could begin to wonder what it was that we were delivered from. Really, it is not just every day that we must determine in our hearts to stand upon that Rock, but every waking hour; even every moment of every breath we take, is another breath we take for God and by God; if we could just hold onto that thought and never let go, oh how our lives would be so much better... "He hath made the earth by His power, He hath established the world by His wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by His understanding. When He uttereth His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: He maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of His treasures. Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. The Portion of Jacob is not like them; for He is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of His inheritance: the LORD of hosts is His name." (Jeremiah 51:15-19)
