"Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity." (Hebrews 5:2 KJV)
"Tell me, you who want to live under the law, do you know what the law actually says? The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God's promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God's own fulfillment of his promise." (Galatians 4:21-23 NLT)
Another point that is sometimes hard to explain or get people to understand, much like that way we are chosen by God, is that of working for salvation, as if the things we do for God are the way we earn the right to get into Heaven. Or, as the J.W.'s believe, they earn the right to inherit this earth; because they believe that only the 144,000 are going to Heaven.
If you have ever gone to a service in the Kingdom Hall, as I remember it, Communion is passed around from person to person, but only those who are of the 144,000 actually partake of the elements. What is the point of that? And, what happens when one of the 144,000 have passed away? Who appoints them and who gets to replace one that has died? Besides that, the Bible says that the 144,000 are Jews, 12,000 from each tribe of Israel; and not only are they Jews, but they are also all virgins!
It is easy to associate the J.W.'s with the where this point is going, because compassion is not something that is demonstrated when you say that Jesus is your Lord and Savior. When I was having a visitation, a man that had just accepted Jesus into his heart was also having a visitation. It was from his family that were all J.W.'s. No sooner than when he picked up his phone, he said, "Quess what? Today I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart!" Then didn't even say good-bye! They just hung up their phone and turned away from him, walking out without even saying a word.
The point to this is really quite simple: We are saved by Grace! Not by works! If we feel as though we need to work for the salvation we receive, then it is as if we are paying the price for something that we can never really afford! We might think we are working our way into Paradise, but it is only by the blood of Christ that sins are forgiven!
I had to share this because it is something that is real; taking hold of many who think that they can get salvation by doing good works; Jesus is the only way...
""You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it." (Matthew 7:13-14 NLT)
