"The Days of His Flesh!"

"Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;" (Hebrews 5:7 KJV)

"Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, "Sit here while I go over there and pray," He took Peter and Zebedee's two sons, James and John, and he became anguished and distressed. He told them, "My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me." He went on a little further and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, "My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine."" (Matthew 26:36-39 NLT)

Where to start? Let's see if there is enough time, even though I started at 3:30 this morning, I feel that it wasn't enough. First of all, as we already took notice of the way Jesus came to this earth, as an innocent baby that needed to be cared for, feed, and changed; totally and completely dependent upon his mother to care for Him and protect Him: Now He is asking for the protection of His Father!

The point to the last portion of this verse, "and was heard in that he feared," is two a part illustration of what this actually looked like and what it might mean for us. Those who were close to Him, saw that He feared what was going to happen, which might have been very surprising to them, see that He had always told them not to fear. But, up to this point, they had no clue about the horrific torment He was about to face!

This can also be relevant to our lives, as we might have certain issues that cause us to fear what might happen, as we cry out to God for Him to save us from suffering. Although, in our case, we want to not have an audience while we do it, just because we want to keep our worries to our self! But this was to be something that needed to be witnessed, letting, not only the three know, but all who read their testimony, that Jesus Christ was human!

Secondly, as we can see, He is crying out to His Father, who we know, always listens and pays close attention to everything that is said, especially what His Son has to say. But, in this case, there was no answer! Been there, and it can be somewhat discouraging! However, when we do not here an answer, I personally believe it means to just keep on with the plan, no matter how hard the journey becomes.

When the time is right, the Father will answer! Jesus knew exactly what the Father wanted, and He was not backing down from what He came to do; but it still hurt to think about what was going to happen; something that was going to crush Him and cause more pain than most any human could withstand!

More than that, not only was He taking a brutal beating, going to hang on a cross, be scoffed at, and be ridiculed by the crowd of people; He was also going to take on all the sin of the world, both your sin and my sin; every single person who has ever lived, every sin was put upon Him, to pay the price for, once and for all...

""Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, 'Father, save me from this hour'? But this is the very reason I came! Father, bring glory to your name." Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, "I have already brought glory to my m=name, and I will do so again." When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him. Then Jesus told them, "The voice was for your benefit, not mine. The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself." He said this to indicate how he was going to die." (John 12:27-33 NLT)
